 So you want to be a CFI?

Florida Shuttle, Inc.
Licensed and insured

"Those who can, TEACH!  If they can't, they have no business teaching!"

Welcome to the most intensive training and hardest checkride of your aviaiton career.  There are no shortcuts, no easy ways out, and no study guides.  What do you need to know for your CFI checkride?  EVERYTHING!

If you are doing this solely to build-time, please contact another training facility.  There are plenty who will be happy to accomodate those goals.

Upon completion of the training program, you will have your CFI certificate for Airplane and Instrument.  If you are a multi-engine rated Commercial pilot and wish to add Multi-engine privliges to your CFI certificate, that can be done at an additional cost (see below).  Please note that prices are subject to change based upon market conditions.

CFI - Airplane (single-engine) and Instrument Includes:

* 35 hours of Classroom Instruction
     * 20 hours of flight instruction (15 hours in a C172, 5 hours in a PA-28R-201T)
     * Spin Training and Endorsement from an Aerobatics Instructor
     * All lesson plans and ground materials (digital copies provided, you must print,
        organize, and assemble them on your own.)

     * Use of the aircraft for the checkride.
     * All required endorsements

You are responsible for providing all FAA publications & charts, binders, copies, personal supplies (pens, pencils, notebooks, etc).
Your final price will vary based upon the prevailing fuel rates.  You will pay for fuel at the conclusion of each flight directly to the FBO.  Fortunatley, due to our volume of flight training, you will receive a significant discount off the retail fuel rates!

Training Costs* for both CFI certificates (except fuel): $3995
Spin Endorsement (payable directly to the aerobatics instructor: $275
Written Exams (payable to the testing center):  $450
Examiner fees (payable directly to the examiner):  $1250

*Classroom training is fixed and not billed at an hourly rate.  If you should need more than 10 hours of flight training per certificate (which we have NEVER had happen), you will be billed at the prevailing rates.  50% due at the start of training, 50% due prior to first checkride.

CFI-Multi Engine (add on to your CFI certificate)
     *  14 hours Flight Training
     *  5 hours classroom
     *  Use of the plane for the checkride
Due to the limited number of people requesting this certificate, training is typically conducted one on one rather than in a cohort setting.
Costs:  $5199* (Up to 14 hours of training + use of the plane for the checkride)

SPECIAL OFFER FOR THOSE WITH 20 HOURS OR MORE OF MULTI-ENGINE PIC TIME:  $2,399
(Includes 5 hours of training + use of the plane for the checkride)
